Half-Baked Beans are partially pre-cooked beans that you cook just like beans you prepare from scratch – but in less than half the time. Half-Baked Beans have been harvested, sorted, washed, partially cooked and dried under carefully controlled conditions. Half-Baked Beans allow you to retain a "prepared from scratch" identity for your menu items, because they still need to be fully cooked. However, the simmer time to fully cook Half-Baked Beans is just 30 to 50 minutes, depending on the variety.
PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Bring water to a boil in a pot.
- Add Half-Baked Beans to water, stir briefly and reduce heat.
- Cover and allow beans to simmer for 30 minutes.
- Following the 30-minute simmer, periodically check the beans for doneness (every 5 – 10 minutes)
- After the beans are tender, season to taste, stir, strain liquid if desired, and serve.
EASY OPTION
If using Half-Baked Beans in a soup, stew or chili recipe, which already has a liquid stock, simply add Half-Baked Beans directly from the bag to that recipe and simmer until tender.
